Original Komsomol Poster - Radioactive Infection

Original Komsomol Poster - Radioactive Infection

An original Soviet-era poster, entitled 'Treatment after Radioactive Infection.'

During the Soviet period, school children were expected to be members of Komsomol, the informal title given to the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League. They would attend special classes dedicated to the civil defence of the USSR, where they would learn first aid and practise  emergency procedures to be enacted in the case of a Western attack.

This poster is from a series dedicated to the activities of Komsomol. It depicts the contemporary guidelines for cleaning oneself after a radioactive attack.

The poster has some small folds and some damage to the edges consistent with age and use.
