A set of seven nesting dolls, handmade and painted by artisans in Russia. They are decorated in the traditional Semenov style, brightly painted in yellow and red with a design of flowers.

Russian dolls are also known as Matryoshka, The first set was made In Russia at the end of the 19th century, inspired by nesting dolls from Japan. They became a popular symbol of Russia after they were sold at international exhibitions. The first Semionov doll was painted in 1913 and quickly became the most iconic style of Matryoshka.

The dolls are carved from linden wood, painted with non-toxic paint and finished with a glossy lacquer. Each handmade set is unique - these Semionov beauties are sisters, not twins.

The largest doll measures approximately 16 x 8 x 8 cm.
