Blackened Cooking Pot

Blackened Cooking Pot

A double-handled terracotta pot, blackened through cooking. The blackened streaks cut across the creamy ground, creating a dramatic effect reminiscent of an abstract expressionist painting.

This type of large pot was traditionally used for cooking sarmale - a Romanian dish of braised meatballs wrapped in cabbage leaves.

Please note that this item will be included in the Transylvanian Families exhibition and will not be sent out until after 30th September 2018.
